Han Myung-Woo

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to report the effect of PST(Psychological Skills Training) on the performance and psychological variables of a female art high schoolgirl(18 yrs.).

CASE: The baseline data showed that her anxiety level was high, self-confidence level was low, and her attentional style was inappropriate. Also her cognitive structure was biased. Such psychological skills as relaxation training, imagery training, practice/competition routine, self-talk were selected and taught for her during 12 sessions.

RESULT: Her somatic and cognitive anxiety were reduced (28¡æ20/30¡æ21), self-confidence was increased (18¡æ31) drastically, and attentional style was improved appropriately as well, which is similar to those experienced during her peak performance. Her performance was improved to the desired level and this level was maintained stably.

DISCUSSION: These results not only supported previous studies in terms of the effects of PST but also firstly showed the possibility of generalization effects of PST on the subjects in other areas.
